Registered Social Service Worker Ottawa

Meet Erin!

Hi, I’m Erin. I’m a Registered Social Service Worker and End-of-Life Doula based in Ottawa (Carp), Ontario. I support individuals across Ontario through major life transitions, including career and employment changes, and end-of-life planning. My practice focuses on making support accessible, approachable, and human, with guidance that’s practical, compassionate, and grounded in lived experience.

About Erin

Support for caregivers Ontario

Hi, I'm Erin!

I'm a Registered Social Service Worker and End-of-Life Doula living and working in Ottawa (Carp), Ontario, on the traditional lands of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. A place I've always called home. My career in social services has centred around helping people succeed in the job market and navigate career & employment transitions. Over the years, I've worked with hundreds of job seekers, supported employers in creating healthier workplaces, and advocated for accessible, meaningful employment opportunities.

Like many people, my own career path wasn't linear. I experienced layoffs, difficult transitions, and a wrongful termination in 2022 that asked me to advocate for myself in ways I never expected. That chapter deepened my understanding of how complex systems can be... and how powerful it is to have the right support system.

Around the same time, my personal life shifted in a big way. A family member's sudden illness and death placed me in a caregiving role I hadn't anticipated. I was managing decisions, documents, finances, and personal care while navigating grief and family dynamics. While I had long been familiar with death, it was an experience that revealed just how overwhelming the end-of-life can be, and how often families are left to figure it out on their own.

Workplace Solutions Employee Development Ontario

Those experiences changed how I wanted to work. I stepped away from government-funded systems to build a private practice where I could offer practical, grounded social services... the kind that helps people build skills, reduce overwhelm, and navigate complex systems.

Today, my work brings together career and employment transitions and end-of-life planning and care. While these areas may seem different, both involve navigating change, systems and uncertainty. Drawing on both professional and lived experiences, I support people in understanding their options, finding their voice, and navigating decisions with care.

Workplace Solutions Employee Development Ontario

My Purpose

My purpose is to guide people through some of life's most significant transitions, career changes and the end-of-life, with practical guidance, clear strategies, and steady support. I help people understand their options, navigate complex systems, and make decisions that align with their needs and values. By breaking down overwhelming challenges into manageable steps, I aim to empower individuals, caregivers, and families to move forward feeling informed, confident, and with a sense of control.

Land Acknowledgement

The social work profession has played a big role in upholding systems that have caused lasting harm to Indigenous communities and ways of life. Harm that continues today. As a Social Service Worker living and working on the unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people, I carry this awareness into my work and strive to actively challenge these systems.

I remain committed to showing up with intention and humility, creating and supporting spaces that listen, respect, and honour the rich diversity of Indigenous cultures and traditions across Canada. I am grateful for every opportunity to learn, for guidance that helps me grow, and for experiences that continue to deepen my awareness, understanding, and inform my actions.
